Friday 16th July - bike ***** - Felixstowe circuit including lunch at Levington Marina – sunny and hot.

Thursday 15th July – walk **** - Felixstowe evening prom stroll.

After an interesting longboard windsurf from The Dip this afternoon, I managed to get home for a shower and change before my son Robert, his partner Hannah and Grandson Arlo arrived for a long weekend, only the second time we have seen him this year! After a catch-up chat we all went for a walk along the prom with Arlo now on his peddle bike! We played on the beach for a bit before returning home.

Friday 16th July.

This was the start of a few days of sunny hot days and with Roberts new Mistral SUP we got for them at a bargain price waiting in our spare room we thought they would like to try that out but as they had brought their bikes Rob was keen to get out on them as he is keen on cycling at the moment, he just loves Strava! So, after making Arlo a large Brio train in our back room I packed a picnic and we set off on our bikes heading over to Levington Marina for a picnic! Crossing the footbridge over the A 14 link road we stopped for waves and hoots from the many lorries leaving Felixstowe port we carried onto the massive Uniserve warehouse which Arlo liked because of the diggers working on the site! We then followed the shady, cool tree lined route down to the River Orwell by Loompit lake covered in geese. Then we went to the marina BBQ area, put one of their picnic benches in the shade and enjoyed our yummy rolls while watching the yachts out on the river including an old barge very slowing heading to Ipswich. Around to the windsurf launch beach before returning to the marina entrance where we parted company with Mag, who with her bad back did not fancy the bumpy river path through Trimley marshes so she went home the road way. So, Rob, Hannah, Arlo and me bumped our way around the lagoon and out onto the very overgrown river path before stopping at Felixstowe docks to watch the containers being moved around by lorries and huge cranes! We skirt around the docks coming out by the double level crossing where they load containers on the trains. The gates were locked so I had to use the phone to get them opened before biking through the busy docks, luckily, we were on the roads before cycling through Langer Park and home past a large sink hole that has appeared near the church in Orwell Road! We really enjoyed our ride despite the heat being out for 4 hrs. 15 mins covering nearly 14 miles. Mag and Arlo had made a birthday earlier in the cake for Mr Ted so we had that with candles after tea. It is Arlos Friday film night so we started to watch ‘Luca’ but he was shattered and only managed to see half of it and had a disturbed night too :(
